Meaning of Qatar flag colors

This flag was adopted before Qatar gained independence from Britain in 1971. Maroon and white show the following:
Maroon: blood spilled during wars
White: symbolizes peace. The nine-pointed edges refer to Qatar being the ninth delegate of “reconciled emirates” in Qatari-British treaty of 1916.
